How to manage my account if Ledger's API is down

The Ledger Wallet Chrome app is using the Ledger's API to communicate with the blockchain (to get all your history of transactions and unspent inputs). If our API is down for any reason, usage of your wallet may be distrupted.

Be sure that your bitcoins stay safe, your private keys are not at risk at all. This is a disruption of service impacting only what you see on the wallet and not the reality of your transactions. If your balance is not correct, or if you do not see a transaction, do not panic: this may be related to the issue on our API only.

How to check your balance with Goochain

Use the tool from Goochain: it will prompt you to export you extended public key (click "confirm" on the popup) and Goochain will compute your balance.

If you have more than one account, go to the account you wish to check and then select "Account settings" and the green button "export" near "Extended public key". Go on Goochain and paste the key (which starts by xpub) to the search field and press enter.

In each case, the total wallet balance is available at the bottom of the page.

This procedure is completely safe, your private keys are never exposed. However, there could be a privacy issue as Goochain would know all your addresses and balance (linked to your IP). They don't keep logs nor track your information, but this is important to keep in mind.

How to check your balance with Sentinel (Android app)

Install the Sentinel app on your Android phone, add an account and scan the QRcode of your extended public key (see above for how to generate it).

How to recover your bitcoins on another wallet

You may need to make an emergency payment, and if our API is down you won't be able to do it. There is a solution by importing your 24 words (from your recovery sheet) into another wallet software.
